Runes have three main uses: magic, divination and writing (poetry, etc.). First off, there are many
different alphabets, or futharks as they are called, that runes can be found in. The word futhark
derives from the first 6 runes in the alphabet, same as the word alphabet is derived from the first two greek
letters, alphabeta. Three futharks are up at the moment: Elder Futhark which is the first and most ancient of all futharks and the most powerful,
, the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc which contains an extra 9 staves added later on for phonetic purposes and finally the Younger
Futhork which has 16 staves.
